✨✨ DSA Update ✨✨
Deep Run would like to welcome Mr. George Bland to our Wildcat Community! Mr. Bland will be serving as our new Director of Student Activities (DSA) starting in January! He is currently at Freeman High School as a Social Studies teacher and head football coach. He will be a great addition to our community and we are excited to see how the programs at Deep Run will develop under his lead.
Thank you to Michael Kidd for all you have done over the past 6 years here at Deep Run! We will miss you and wish you the best at Atlee High School!

Did someone say Poetry?! Competition?! Where?!
Today, Mrs. Cho hosted our annual Poetry Out Loud Competition in the auditorium.
Congratulations to Milla Hartford (Winner), Vee Pressley (Runner-Up), and Campbell Corey (Third Place) on their success at our fifth annual Poetry Out Loud School-Wide Competition!! Congratulations to all of our other classroom winners, who competed today, too! The recitations showed these students’ poise and talent. Thank you to all the supportive teachers and administrators, and thank you to our awesome contest officials – judges, score tabulator, and prompter.
We are so impressed by the fierce competition today!

Today is known around the country as “Giving Tuesday” where people donate to different causes in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Please consider donating to the PTSO where 100% of your donations will go back to Deep Run!

Wishing you & yours a very happy Thanksgiving day & a restful break!

Tuesday night, we celebrated the incredible achievements of members of the first HCPS Teaching and Learning Specialization Cohort, including 3 of our very own!!
Individually, they needed to explain to a panel what they have learned from the cohort and how they have incorporated what they have learned into their teaching. They have been working on their portfolios since January once a week.
Congratulations to Morgan Nash, Clay Hudson, and Melissa Cho!

🍂 Maymont in the Fall! 🍂
Ms. Dogoli's Communications, Photo, & Video classes attend their annual Maymont field trip two weeks ago! The weather was beautiful, the air was crisp, and the leaves were falling!
Communications students focused on photographing using Compositional tools. Photo 2 and Video students focused on making imagery or videos that will promote Maymont Park. But all students focused on communicating, collaborating, and connecting with their peers.
In December, some of their work will be put on display in the 4801 Gallery! 📸
Have you ever been to Maymont in the fall?

Today was a special day as we gather to celebrate the achievements of our talented student-athletes on Fall Signing Day! 🎉📜✨
Our extraordinary athletes are signing their letters of intent and making a commitment to play their chosen sports at their respective colleges. This is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for their sports.
Deep Run HS has a long-standing tradition of nurturing and developing incredible athletes, and today, we continue that legacy as our students take the next step in their athletic journeys. We're immensely proud of each and every one of them! 🐾👏
Join us in congratulating our students who will be continuing their academic and athletic pursuits in college. It's not just about the game; it's about embracing opportunities, challenging limits, and growing as individuals.
Participating in sports teaches valuable life skills, and we know that our student-athletes will carry the lessons learned on the field into their future endeavors. We wish them success in all their academic and athletic endeavors!
To our athletes, families, coaches, and the entire Deep Run community, let's come together to celebrate this significant milestone. Your support has played a crucial role in the success of our student-athletes, and we invite you to share your well-wishes and congratulations! 🥳👏
If you're at the event or want to share your own memories of these outstanding athletes, use the hashtag #DeepRunSigningDay. Let's create a digital scrapbook of this memorable day! 📷📢

Let's visit in Mrs. Jones' class today!
During the Population Party students took on the role of an international world leader or a civilian. Students had to talk with each other to determine the population problems the world is facing from several different perspectives. Here is the blurb students were given:
As honored guests of the World Population and Health Conference, you have been invited to attend a pre-conference mixer. The conference has brought you here in order to understand the population and health challenges facing your state (country). While the conference begins tomorrow, today is an opportunity for you to meet the other attendees and see what types of issues other states are dealing with and at the same time get to know some new faces!
There were nametags, smiles, lots of conversations and snacks!

Our Deep Run Writing Center consultants enjoyed providing virtual writing consultations to Mr. Wasserman’s 5th grade students at Nuckols Farm Elementary School. The conversations about writing were productive & fun!!
