Overview

The Center for Information Technology serves as a home for students interested in learning the fundamentals of the computer science and mathematics fields. Students receive a unique, technology-based education that prepares them well for the future whether they decide to pursue a career in the computer science field or not.

The CIT offers various courses in computer science, including application development, enterprise architecture, programming, and highest level of math courses in the county, including Discrete Mathematics and Multivariate Calculus, allowing students to explore and engage with technology while also gaining real-world skills that can be applied to many different disciplines even outside computer science. The teachers in the CIT craft a great learning experience for students and prepare them with the soft skills necessary in today’s fast-growing technology landscape by emphasizing many different soft skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, ethics, and most importantly, integrity. Students in the Center have the opportunity to both nurture and apply these skills through real-world projects.

Students can gain real-world experience through Community Innovation Technology projects, internships and competitions such as MetaCTF cybersecurity events and Hackathons. These programs serve as integral experiences that allow students to use the skills they learn in the classroom in real-world companies and situations, preparing students for the future in the most practical ways.
